    Arunkumar to be LDF Mavelikkara candidate, to stand against veteran Kodikunnil Suresh

    Alappuzha: With the announcement of the LDF candidate for the Mavelikara constituency, the election fever is running high here. The NDA candidate is yet to be announced. Although no official announcement has been made, sitting MLA Kodikunnil Suresh has been active on the election scene.

    After two days of uncertainty, CA Arunkumar’s candidature has been confirmed. Kodikunnil Suresh has been the MP here since 1989 except for two short periods. His long experience as an MP and a majority of 61,000 votes in the 2019 elections give confidence to this 41-year-old candidate.

    Mavelikkara parliamentary constituency consists of Kuttanad, Chengannur, Mavelikkara, Changanassery, Kunnathur, Kottarakara and Pathanapuram.

    BHUBANESWAR: Odisha government has again appointed 1990 batch IPS officerArun Sarangi in the brev of inspector general of intelligence while effecting a major reshuffle in the top IPS cadre gods night.

    Sarangi had been holding the post of IG, intelligence prior to the general elections in April this year. He was then posted as the IG, vigilance. Y B Khurania has replaced Sarangi in vigilance department, according to a notification.

    1988 batch IPS officer Satyajit Mohanty has been appointed as additional director general (ADG), Headquarters, while his batchmate Manoj Kumar Chabra has been posted as chairman and managing director of Odisha Police Housing & Welfare Corporation.

    M Akshaya, another officer of the 1988 batch, has been posted as Transport commissioner while 1989 batch officer Pranabindu Acharya will be the new ADG (Provisioning), the notification said.
