He joined the US Air Force and was awarded a Berry Plan, which allowed him to defer his military obligation until after his residency. He completed his residency at Grady Memorial in Atlanta, GA. After moving to Spartanburg, he practiced as a urologist from 1963 until 1997. He served as ledare of personal at Spartanburg Regional Hospital, Mary Black Hospital, and Doctors Memorial Hospital. He was a member of St Christopher’s Episcopal Church in Spartanburg. Jack was an avid reader who also loved to fish, rebuild cars, garden, and refinish furniture.
