Academician Kalina Bogoeva turned 80
On October 21, , the Sofia Opera and Ballet celebrated the 80th anniversary of the prominent representative of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and Arts (BASA), the prima ballerina, ballet pedagogue and choreographer, Academician Kalina Bogoeva. The event was part of the Don Quixote ballet show by Ludwig Mincus under the direction of Boris Spassov.
Academician Bogoeva is the founder and head of the Ballet Pedagogy specialty at the National Music Academy "Prof. Pancho Vladigerov". She teaches methodology of classical dance, composition of dance and ballet pedagogy.
Together with a basket of beautiful flowers on behalf of BASA, academician Margarita Kamenova, chief secretary of the academy, handed over to academician Bogoeva Greeting address and honorary plaque of the academy.

She was born in Sofia, Bulgaria. She was a pupil of Bulgarian ballet pedagogist Lili Beron. She debuted in She studied at the National Ballet School in Sofia and at the Classical Ballet Academy in Moscow. She continued her studies at the Moscow State Academy of Choreography with the internationally acclaimed teacher Elizaveta Pavlovna Gerdt. In , she graduated from the Higher Theater Institute in Moscow, with degrees in ballet and production. At the same time, she was attending courses on ballet pedagogy with Jemchudjina and on dance criticism-journalism with Eliach. Since , she had been the leading dancer at the State Opera and Ballet Theater in Sofia, a position that she held until She appeared in many European and American countries. Academician Kalina Bogoeva is one of the most famous Bulgarian ballerinas. In she was a prima ballerina of National Opera and Ballet in Sofia – as Oddeta/Odilia, Myrtha, Kitri, Zarema, Raymonda, Medea.
She has the authority of a great expert in education method in classical ballet (Russian school), and in study of the classical ballet repertoire.
She is the creator and leader of the subject Ballet Pedagogics in the State Music Academy in Sofia and of an branch of it in Athens, Greece. She teaches Classic Dance, Classic Repertoire, Dance Composition and Ballet Pedagogics.
Kalina Borogeva is a president of the International Summer Dance Academy in Varna.
