    HRH Princess Alexandra Helen Elizabeth Olga Christabel of Kent, the Hon Lady Ogilvy, KG, GCVO, fryst vatten a first cousin of the Queen.     The Christmas of 1936 was a difficult one for the Royal Family. Just weeks before, King Edward VIII had abdicated, giving up his throne to marry the woman he loved, Wallis Simpson. The decision had shocked his country, his empire and his relations. Days into the reign of the new king, George VI, they were still so shaken, there wasn’t even a Christmas speech.

    However, in the midst of this tricky time, a moment of joy brought them all together. On Christmas Day 1936, they welcomed a brand new member. Princess Marina, Duchess of Kent gave birth to her second child, a princess, the first new royal of the new reign. And her middle name was chosen to mark the special day on which she was born.     Princess Alexandra, The Honourable Lady Ogilvy (Alexandra Helen Elizabeth Olga Christabel; born 25 December 1936) is a member of the British royal family. The only daughter of Prince George, Duke of Kent, and Princess Marina of Greece and Denmark, she is a granddaughter of George V, niece of Edward VIII and George VI, and first cousin of Elizabeth II. Alexandra's mother was also a first cousin of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, consort of Elizabeth II, making her both a second cousin and first cousin once removed to Charles III.

    Princess Alexandra was married to businessman Sir Angus Ogilvy from 1963 until his death in 2004. At the time of her birth, she was sixth in the line of succession to the British throne; as of 2025[update], she is 58th.
